Festival of the River – Brown’s Island, Richmond, VA – June 8 -10, 2018

A special three-day event, The Festival of the River, will take place on Brown’s Island, Richmond, VA from June 8-10, 2018. This one-time festival will showcase the very best of the James River, Chesapeake Bay and the Richmond Region. Festival highlights will include contemporary art installations, performances from Rhiannon Giddens, Savion Glover, the Richmond Symphony, NO BS! Brass Band and more under the Symphony’s “Big Tent,” cleanups along and around the River and family-friendly environmental education activities including Back to the Bay in celebration of Chesapeake Bay Awareness Week.

It’s a clean-up. And a workout. It’s always an uplifting experience, especially when you bring along a friend. It’s our next Volunteer Work Day, and it’s on May 30 from 1 to 3 p.m.

That’s right, we’re getting ready to prep, prune and preen our Virginia Treasure just in time for packs of Capital Trail bikers and hikers, gaggles of families pushing strollers and dragging wagons, and nature lovers seeking to explore Great Shiplock Park.

Annual Report for Capital Trees

It is with tremendous gratitude that Capital Trees presents our Annual Report for 2016 and 2017 stub fiscal year. Garden Club of America Honors Capital Trees

Capital Trees was recently honored to receive The Garden Club of America’s Zone Civic Improvement Commendation at the 2017 Zone VII Meeting which was held on October 23 – 26 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The award was presented by Albemarle Garden Club member Carol Carter, First Vice Chairman of The GCA Conservation Committee at the awards banquet held on October 25 at the Forsyth Country Club.
