The Richmond Tree Week kickoff event at Byrd Park The Richmond Tree Week kickoff event at Byrd Park was a success! The group of volunteers who joined us to plant trees was incredibly hard working. Volunteers and partners worked side by side to add 50 new trees to RVA's tree canopy, connecting with each other and getting their hands in the dirt. The day was a testament to the number of our neighbors who are passionate about taking real action for the earth and the community.

We had a huge turnout at our recent workday with C We had a huge turnout at our recent workday with Capgemini. They volunteered with us at the Hotchkiss Green to mulch the food forest, weed and mulch around trees, and help combat the wiregrass in the gardens. They also built picnic tables which are now on site at the Hotchkiss Green and available for use! Thanks of your time Capgemini!

Thanks to the TowneBank team for volunteering with Thanks to the TowneBank team for volunteering with us at the Hotchkiss Green! They tackled some much needed tree care — expanding tree rings, adjusting tree diapers, weeding, and mulching the newly planted trees. We appreciate all that you do to support local nonprofits, including ours, thank you!

@troutmanpepperlockellp has volunteered with us s @troutmanpepperlockellp has volunteered with us several times, and we're always happy to have them back in the gardens. This time it was a small but mighty group! Last winter many plants in the rain garden at the Low Line Green died because of excessive salt build up in the soil from runoff from the overpasses. We needed to replant the space with species that are more tolerant of salty soil, and this team planted 150 new plugs and 14 shrubs! Thanks for your time @troutmanpepperlockellp!
Fall is for planting, but thanks to the many volun Fall is for planting, but thanks to the many volunteers who have jumped in to lend a hand, we've been doing much more than that in our urban greenspaces.
