Along with our friends at @capitalregionlandconser Along with our friends at @capitalregionlandconservancy, we collaborated on a local event "Where Development Meets Greenspace" and spent the evening connecting with thoughtful leaders from Richmond’s development and real estate community. It was an opportunity to discuss how conserving and cultivating greenspaces strengthens community health, environmental resilience, placemaking, and long-term economic vitality.

At the event we were able to highlight the complementary roles of our organizations. Capital Region Land Conservancy focuses on conserving important land and natural resources, and Capital Trees focuses on cultivating vibrant, connected greenspaces that communities can actively use and enjoy. We’re grateful to be able to partner and collaborate with other organizations who share our vision of a greener #RVA. Together, and in our own ways, we’re working to increase access to parks and greenspace for all Richmond residents.

Thank you to everyone who spent the evening with us learning more. We’re always happy to connect with developers, legislators, and civic and community partners who want to take real action for the earth and the community.
Thank you to the team from @costargroup who volunt Thank you to the team from @costargroup who volunteered with us at Canoe Run Park to help take care of the newly planted trees there. For most of the volunteers it was their first time volunteering at Canoe Run and they were engaged and eager to learn. Together, they got their hands in the dirt to remove weeds and apply a fresh layer of mulch at the base of 12 trees. This maintenance work will help the trees in the upcoming summer heat because they won’t need to compete with weeds for water and nutrients, and the mulch will help the soil stay cool and retain moisture. Thanks again Costar Group — we appreciate your ongoing support!

They got to see our newest greenspace project, the Hotchkiss Green and work together to tackle the perimeter of the rain garden there. When teams head out of the office and into a greenspace, they're able to spend a few hours working side by side with their hands in the dirt building meaningful relationships. Thank you LMP for your continued support and commitment to a greener future.

Last month, the team from Hanbury (along with Capi Last month, the team from Hanbury (along with Capital Trees Board Member Katrina Van Orden) volunteered their time at the Hotchkiss Field Community Center. They worked together to transform the garden bed at the entrance by removing the overgrown weeds and replanting the bed with native and native cultivars of shrubs, forbs, and grasses. Their hard work was on display for the recent ribbon cutting and makes for a welcoming entrance to the center — thank you @hanbury.design!
