But in the meantime, you can find us THIS weekend at two separate events. 📅 Henrico’s Annual Earth Day Celebration - Saturday 4/19, 12-3 pm - Deep Run Park @henricorecparks 📅 Earth Day at the Science Museum of Virginia - Saturday 4/19, 12–5 pm - Earth Day activities are included with @sciencemuseumofvirginia admission, which is $10
You know what they say about April showers and May You know what they say about April showers and May flowers — rain is great for our urban greenspaces!🌷 We build rain gardens into many of our public landscapes to capture rainwater and slow down stormwater runoff. We were happy to see the brand new rain garden at Hotchkiss Green working exactly as intended earlier this spring. One of our longtime volunteers, Jerry, has generou One of our longtime volunteers, Jerry, has generously donated his time to maintaining a mason bee box at Great Shiplock Park. Hear from him a little bit about the process! Mason bees are one of the earliest bees to begin work in the spring and are very effective pollinators. Many thanks to Jerry for all he does for Capital Trees, including insuring we have plenty of mason bees in our greenspaces! Beneficial insects, including pollinators, are just one of the reasons why it's so important that we maintain our gardens sustainably. 🌎🌱🐝
