Our spring community workday is scheduled for April 27 from 10am - 12pm and is open to all experience levels. Come out and contribute your time towards the maintenance of the gardens, to help ensure that they're welcoming to all, not only season after season and year after year, but decade after decade. It’s no secret that we love perennial plants… You plant them once and they come back year after year. And daffodils? We look forward to them every year because they’re a sure sign that spring is around the corner. Take yourself on a daffodil tour along the Low Line, there are plenty of varieties spread throughout the gardens. 🤩

We’re participating in the Target Circle program

We’re proud to share that we’ve received a Nat

We’re proud to share that we’ve received a National Neighborhood Promise grant from the Republic Services Charitable Foundation to complete a project in Richmond’s northside at Hotchkiss Field Community Center. Our project will transform 1.88 underused acres of turf into an inviting urban landscape that includes walking trails, seating areas, lights, shade trees, a pollinator garden, and native shrubs and perennials. The greenspace will help cool temperatures in the community and offset the urban heat island effect, promote community health, and provide food and habitats for wildlife. We are thrilled to receive this grant and look forward to starting this project in partnership with @republic_services. #NeighborhoodPromise #CapitalTrees

We know that people need access to safe, beautiful

We know that people need access to safe, beautiful, restorative green space. We started our work by taking on smaller scale projects like the 14th Street Initiative. With each project we’ve completed, we’ve gained the skills and the expertise to expand and further our impact. We’re thoughtful and intentional when selecting project sites, taking into account the needs and input of nearby residents, the urban heat island, gaps in the city’s tree canopy, accessibility, walkability, and more. We’re working to make sure more of Richmond’s communities benefit from and have access to tree-filled and garden-lined areas to connect with each other, and with nature.
